On Thursday, September 13th, The Center for the Humanities is hosting “Publishing American Sign Language Poetry” at the Proshansky Auditorium. This event gathers together Deaf poets, scholars, editors, publishers, and others interested in ASL poetry to discuss the poetic process, from performing to publishing to translating. DSDJ is delighted to partner with and sponsor the event and highlight the work of Deaf authors and contributors by breaking free of English and the written word to celebrate ASL poetry and literature through our digital platform. Past issues of DSDJ have included ASL poems and literary videos by authors such as Adrean Clark and Douglas Ridloff, who will also be presenting at this event. DSDJ executive editor, Dr. Patrick Boudreault, will present about the DSDJ platform and the future of publishing with this journal during the Closed Afternoon Workshops. “Publishing American Sign Language” is guaranteed to be an evening bursting with creativity, inspiration, and opportunity for bringing signed poetry to the forefront of literary conversations. For more information about the event and to RSVP to attend, please visit their page.
